Ford oil change in Huntley, IL
An oil change at a Ford dealer is not only an oil change. Ford sells it as The Works, and the other seven things in it are the reason the price is not the whole story.
Eight things, one price
This is Ford’s own list, not ours. The Works is a fixed package every Ford and Lincoln dealer and Quick Lane store sells, so what is in it does not vary by store — only what it costs does.
- Synthetic blend oil change — up to six quarts of Motorcraft oil and a Motorcraft oil filter
- Tire rotation and pressure check
- Brake inspection
- Vehicle checkup
- Fluid top-off
- Battery test
- Filter check
- Belts and hoses check
Ford’s wording is “use Motorcraft motor oil to optimize your engine performance.” It is the oil the engine was calibrated on, and it is what The Works uses. If your Ford takes full synthetic rather than synthetic blend, say so when you book — the package changes and so does the price.
The Works excludes the hybrid battery test. If you drive a hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, the high-voltage battery is checked separately — ask for it when you book rather than assuming the package covered it.
Your Ford works this out for itself
The most common question about a Ford oil change has an answer most people have never been told: there is no fixed mileage. Every modern Ford runs Ford’s Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor, which decides for your car rather than for cars in general.
| What the dash says | What Ford means by it | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing yet | The monitor is counting down on how the vehicle has actually been driven. | Nothing. |
| Change Engine Oil Soon | “The vehicle has about 5% oil-life left, and the oil and filter should be replaced soon.” | Book it. There is no rush measured in days, but do not file it away. |
| Oil Change Required | “The vehicle has no oil-life remaining, and the oil and filter should be replaced now.” | Now. Quick Lane will take you without an appointment. |
Ford’s system “calculates oil change service intervals based on your vehicle’s use, operating conditions, and time since the last oil service.” Short trips in an Illinois winter use oil life faster than highway miles in June, and the monitor knows the difference. A blanket 3,000 or 5,000 miles either changes oil you did not need to change or leaves it too long. Your owner’s manual carries the specific interval for your engine if you want a figure to plan around.
- Time counts, not just miles. The monitor watches how long it has been since the last service as well as how far. A vehicle that barely moves still needs the oil changed.
- The monitor has to be reset. Any Ford dealer or Quick Lane does it as part of the service. If you change the oil yourself and do not reset it, the countdown keeps running on the old oil.
- A tire rotation is in the package anyway. Which means the interval that suits your oil also suits your tires — see tires.

Coupons, points and the discount nobody claims
Oil change pricing moves, and any page that prints a figure is wrong within the month. What does not move is where the money comes off — and three of the four routes below are ones most owners never use.
The current coupon
Ford and the store both publish service offers, and they change monthly. Ours are on one page rather than scattered through the site.
Service couponsFord Rewards points
Points earn on Ford, Motorcraft and Omnicraft parts and the labor with them, and they redeem against service. Membership is free and has to exist within 60 days of the invoice.
Ford employees and retirees
Active U.S. Ford employees and retirees can generate four $50 instant service discounts a year at FordServiceDiscount.com and share them. Oil changes and The Works qualify.
Bundle the trip
The Works already includes the tire rotation and the brake, battery and fluid checks. Anything the inspection finds is quoted before it is done.
What a Ford oil change costs depends on your engine — how much oil it holds, and whether it takes synthetic blend or full synthetic. A 2.5-liter four and a 7.3-liter V8 are not the same job. Call (847) 669-6060 with the year and model, or read the VIN, and you will get the figure for your vehicle rather than a range that fits nobody.
Three ways, and one of them comes to you
An oil change is the one job at this address you do not have to book. Which route suits you is mostly a question of whether you want to wait.
- Quick Lane — no appointmentWalk in on any make, not only Ford. Open later than the Service Department on weekdays. This is the route most oil changes take.
- Ford Mobile Service — we come to youA technician drives to your home or work. Oil and filter is one of the jobs it covers.
- Quick Lane takes any make. It is a walk-in shop for oil, tires, brakes and batteries, and it does not care what badge is on the grille.
- Book the Service Department instead if something else is wrong. A warning light, a noise or anything under warranty is Ford-specific work and wants an appointment.
- Ford Pickup and Delivery moves the car, not the technician. If you would rather the vehicle came here and went back, that is a different program — see pickup and delivery.
- Ask what the inspection found. The Works checks brakes, battery, fluids, filters, belts and hoses. That report is free and it is the most useful thing you leave with.
Oil change questions we are asked
How much does a Ford oil change cost?
It depends on the engine, because the two things that set the price are how much oil it holds and whether it takes synthetic blend or full synthetic. The Works uses up to six quarts of Motorcraft oil and a Motorcraft filter, and a small four-cylinder and a big V8 are not the same job. Call (847) 669-6060 with the year and model and you will get your figure rather than a range. Current offers are on the coupons page.
How often does Ford recommend changing the oil?
Ford does not publish one mileage for every vehicle. The Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor “calculates oil change service intervals based on your vehicle’s use, operating conditions, and time since the last oil service,” and tells you on the dash. “Change Engine Oil Soon” means about 5% oil life left; “Oil Change Required” means none left and the oil and filter should be replaced now. Your owner’s manual carries the specific interval for your engine.
Should I change the oil every 3,000 or 5,000 miles?
Neither number comes from Ford. Both are older rules of thumb from before oil-life monitoring, and on a modern Ford running synthetic blend they usually mean changing oil that still has life in it. Drive it until the monitor asks, unless your owner’s manual says otherwise for your engine — and if the vehicle covers very few miles, change it on time rather than on distance.
What is included in The Works?
Eight things: a synthetic blend oil change with up to six quarts of Motorcraft oil and a Motorcraft filter, a tire rotation and pressure check, a brake inspection, a vehicle checkup, a fluid top-off, a battery test, a filter check, and a belts and hoses check. It excludes the hybrid battery test. That list is Ford’s and it is the same at every Ford dealer and Quick Lane store.
Do I need an appointment?
Not for an oil change. Quick Lane takes walk-ins on any make, and it stays open later than the Service Department on weekdays. Book the Service Department instead if there is a warning light, a noise, or anything under warranty — see the service page for which shop takes which work.
Does Ford offer lifetime oil changes?
Not as a national program. Some dealers run their own lifetime or prepaid maintenance offers and the terms differ store to store, so it is a question to ask rather than assume. What Ford does run nationally is Ford Rewards points on service, and an instant service discount for Ford employees and retirees.
Can you use my own oil, or oil I bought elsewhere?
The Works is a fixed package with Motorcraft oil in it, so it is not the right ticket for that. Ask for an oil and filter change instead and we will quote it. Bear in mind that Ford’s wording is to “use Motorcraft motor oil to optimize your engine performance” — it is the oil the engine was calibrated on.
Will you reset the oil-life monitor?
Yes, as part of the service, whether it is Quick Lane or the Service Department. It matters more than it sounds: if the monitor is not reset it keeps counting down on oil that has already been replaced, and the next reminder arrives at the wrong time.
Does the oil change include a tire rotation?
The Works does, along with a pressure check. That is one of the reasons it is worth asking for by name rather than asking for an oil change — see tires for what a rotation actually does and how often it is worth doing.
Can you change the oil at my house?
Ford Mobile Service covers oil and filter, and a technician drives to your home or your work to do it. Availability depends on the day and the distance, so call (847) 669-6060 or see mobile service.
Drive in, or book it
Quick Lane will take an oil change without an appointment on any make. If you want a time held, or there is something else to look at while the car is here, book the Service Department.
Sources. The Works’ contents, the Motorcraft wording and the hybrid battery test exclusion are Ford’s own published descriptions, read Sept. 10, 2026. The Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor descriptions and both dash messages are quoted from Ford’s owner support pages, read the same day; the interval that applies to your engine is in your owner’s manual, and this page deliberately does not print a mileage Ford does not publish. Ford Rewards and the Ford employee and retiree service discount are Ford programs and Ford sets their terms. Prices are not quoted here because they depend on the engine and because offers change monthly — see the coupons page, or call for the figure on your vehicle. Quick Lane hours and phone number were confirmed with the dealership in October 2026; the service list is Ford’s own store record for Quick Lane at Huntley Ford.
