2026 Eight trims · Huntley, IL

The 2026 Ford F-150.Really two trucks.

Eight trims from $39,585 to $79,005 — and a $14,865 gap in the middle with nothing sold in it. Which side of that gap you are shopping decides almost everything else.

What this means for you

The F-150 range splits in half, and the split is $14,865 wide

Every other model in the showroom climbs in even steps. The F-150 does not. Three trims sit within $5,110 of each other at the bottom, then the price jumps by nearly fifteen thousand dollars in one move and a completely different truck starts. Nothing is sold in between. Here is where the money actually goes.

  • The bottom three are $5,110 apart

XL $39,585, STX $41,855, XLT $44,695. Mechanically these are the same truck — the 2.7L EcoBoost is standard on all three and the 3.5L EcoBoost is available on two of them. What the money buys is trim, wheels, screens and seat material, not capability.

  • Then a $14,865 step to the Lariat

The XLT is $44,695 and the Lariat is $59,560. That single step is nearly three times the entire XL-to-XLT range, and Ford sells nothing between the two. If your budget lands in that gap, the honest answer is a well-optioned XLT rather than a stripped Lariat, because a stripped Lariat does not exist.

  • Three very different trucks within $3,885

Tremor $64,915, King Ranch $65,825, Platinum $68,800. For roughly the same money you can buy an off-road truck, a western-themed luxury truck or a monochrome luxury truck. They are not steps on a ladder — they are three separate arguments, and the one you want is a matter of taste rather than budget.

  • The Raptor tows less than an XLT

At $79,005 the Raptor is $10,205 clear of anything else, and Ford rates it to tow 8,200 lb against 13,500 for a properly equipped 3.5L EcoBoost. It is a desert truck wearing a pickup body. If you are buying a truck to pull something, the Raptor is the wrong end of the range.

The cheaper half

An XLT is not a stripped-out truck, and that is the whole problem

The XLT is where most F-150s on this lot sit, and for 2026 Ford made it harder to leave. The 3.5L EcoBoost — 400 hp, 500 lb-ft, the engine that carries the 13,500 lb tow rating — is now standard on the 157-inch-wheelbase XLT rather than an upgrade. Zone Lighting is standard from the STX up. And BlueCruise — standard equipment on every trim from the Lariat up — can now be ordered on an XLT with the 302A or 303A group, and bought outright rather than subscribed to. So the $14,865 walk to a Lariat is no longer buying you a better engine or the headline tow rating. It is buying leather, a bigger screen, more sound deadening and a different badge. Those are real things and plenty of people want them. They are just not capability, and a salesperson who tells you otherwise is selling rather than helping. The truck in this picture is an XLT with the Black Appearance Package — shown with optional equipment and extra-cost color.

New for 2026

What Ford actually changed

Ford’s own list for the 2026 model year, and most of it is about making the middle of the range less painful.

  • King Ranch starts under $70,000

Ford added a King Ranch 600A and a Platinum 700A base equipment group for 2026. The effect is a King Ranch at $65,825 — Ford’s own line is that it “now starts under $70K” — and a lower entry point on the Platinum as well.

  • The 3.5L EcoBoost is now standard in more places

Standard on the XL and XLT with the 157-inch wheelbase, on the rear-drive Lariat and on the Tremor. The 400 hp engine that carries the top tow rating is no longer something you have to go looking for on the order sheet.

  • The hybrid reaches down to the STX

The 3.5L PowerBoost full hybrid is now available on the STX 200A group. Counting the Order Guide, it is orderable on six of the eight trims — everything except the Tremor and the two Raptors — and it is standard on the Platinum 703A.

  • BlueCruise can now be bought outright

Ford’s hands-free highway system is standard equipment on the Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch and Platinum, and for 2026 an XLT with the 302A or 303A group can be ordered with it — as a one-time purchase rather than only a subscription. It is not offered on the Raptor at all. On an I-90 commute it is the feature most worth driving before you decide.

Changes as described by Ford for the 2026 model year, from the Ford newsroom article “What’s New: 2026 Ford F-150” (27 August 2025) and the 2026 F-150 Order Guide dated 30 April 2026. Also new for 2026: rear-wheel drive is now available on the Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum with the 5.5-foot box; a Tremor 402B equipment group; Zone Lighting standard from the STX upward, except with the STX 201A group; the Pro Access Tailgate as a free-standing option on King Ranch and Platinum; and three new colors — Argon Blue, Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic, all extra cost.

Choosing an engine

Six engines, and only two of them are decisions most people have to make

Four of the six are settled for you by the trim you pick — the High-Output V6 and the supercharged V8 are Raptor-only, the 2.7L stops at the XLT, and the 5.0L V8 is gone above the Tremor. The real choice, on most of the range, is between the 3.5L EcoBoost and the PowerBoost hybrid.

3.5L EcoBoost High-Output V6450 hp @ 5,250510 lb-ft @ 3,500Raptor only
5.2L supercharged V8720 hp @ 6,650640 lb-ft @ 4,300Raptor R only
  • The 3.5L EcoBoost is the towing engine

It carries the 13,500 lb rating and the 2,440 lb payload maximum, and for 2026 it is standard across most of the range rather than optional. If the truck has a job to do, this is the default and the others are the exceptions.

  • The PowerBoost is the economy engine, oddly

It makes the most torque in the range apart from the Raptor R — 570 lb-ft — and it is also the most economical F-150 you can buy at 22 city and 24 highway. It gives up about 1,900 lb of towing to the 3.5L EcoBoost and brings Pro Power Onboard with it, which turns the bed into a generator.

  • The V8 is a preference, not an argument

The 5.0L makes 400 hp — identical to the 3.5L EcoBoost — with 90 lb-ft less torque, tows 700 lb less and returns 16 city. People buy it because they want a V8, which is a perfectly good reason. It is optional on the XLT, Lariat and Tremor and not offered above them.

Horsepower and torque are Ford’s published figures from the 2026 F-150 Tech Specs sheet. The PowerBoost figures are Ford’s combined engine-and-motor calculation. Ford’s own footnote applies to the whole table: “Maximum horsepower, torque, payload and towing are independent attributes and may not be achieved simultaneously.” Fuel-economy figures quoted here are EPA-estimated — see the specifications table below.

A white 2026 Ford F-150 Tremor on a curving mountain road beside a river, snow-capped peaks behind
The Tremor

The off-road F-150 that is not a Raptor, and costs $14,090 less

At $64,915 the Tremor sits between the Lariat and the King Ranch on price and nowhere near either of them on purpose. It is a SuperCrew 4×4 with a 5.5-foot box, and Ford’s own equipment list for it reads like a different vehicle: off-road front and rear shocks, skid plates, a 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle, a Torsen front differential, a two-speed automatic four-wheel-drive system with mechanical lock, and 18-inch dark matte wheels on 275/70R18 all-terrain tires. The 3.5L EcoBoost is standard and the 5.0L V8 is available, which makes the Tremor the most expensive F-150 you can still order with a V8. For 2026 Ford added a Tremor 402B equipment group, and puts the walk up to a leather-trimmed Tremor at about $7,700 less than the equivalent step cost in 2025. It is the clearest price improvement anywhere in the range. Shown with optional equipment and extra-cost color.

Towing and payload

Every figure here is split two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, because Ford’s are

You will see “up to 11,600 lb” quoted for the PowerBoost hybrid in one place and “12,400 lb” in another, and both are correct — 12,400 is the two-wheel-drive figure and 11,600 is the four-wheel-drive one. Collapsing them into a single number is how a truck gets sold on a capability it does not have, so we have not done it.

Ford’s published maximums from the 2026 F-150 Tech Specs sheet, when properly equipped. The highest towing figures require an F-150 SuperCrew with the Max Tow/Haul Package (53T) and the optional Max Tow Axle upgrade; the Raptor payload figure carries the same qualifier and the Raptor R figure is for the 37-inch tire application. Ford also notes that maximum towing varies with cargo, configuration, accessories and the number of passengers, that maximum payload varies with accessories and configuration, and that horsepower, torque, payload and towing are independent attributes that may not be achieved simultaneously. The door-jamb label is the authority for any individual truck, and we will read it with you.

Comparing the range

What separates the eight trims

The Raptor R is not a column here. Ford lists eight F-150 series in its 2026 Order Guide and the Raptor R is not one of them — it is an engine option on the Raptor, and Ford publishes no separate price for it.

Prices are Ford’s published starting MSRPs, read from ford.com on 31 August 2026 and re-confirmed on 1 September. Every other cell is read off the eight series pages of the 2026 F-150 Order Guide (Ford Division, 30 April 2026). Engine rows are marked Available rather than Standard wherever the Order Guide makes it depend on wheelbase, which is most of the lower range: the 2.7L is standard on the XL and XLT but not offered with the 122.5-inch or 157-inch wheelbase on an XL, nor on a 157-inch 4×4 XLT, and the 3.5L EcoBoost is standard specifically on the 157-inch cars. On the XL the PowerBoost is a fleet-only equipment group, which is why that cell says “Ask us” rather than yes or no. Zone Lighting is not offered with the STX 201A group. Rows the Order Guide settles only by inheritance between series pages — Pro Power Onboard and seat materials among them — are left out of this table entirely and covered in the specifications below. Ford revises trim content during the model year, so we confirm anything here on a specific truck.

The lineup

Six of the eight trims, lowest price first

Ford publishes a studio render for six of its eight 2026 F-150 trims. The STX and the Tremor are not among them, so rather than substitute another truck’s photograph for theirs, they are covered in the comparison table above and the Tremor has a section of its own further up this page.

Starting MSRPs are Ford’s own published base prices for the 2026 F-150, read from ford.com in a rendered browser on 31 August 2026 and re-confirmed on 1 September, and exclude taxes, title, license and the dealer documentary fee. Ford’s published destination and delivery charge for the 2026 F-150 is $2,795, read from Ford’s published destination and delivery charges on 1 September 2026; that puts the XL at $42,380 and the Raptor at $81,800 before anything else is added. Ford can change it at any time and says its dealers are the best source of current information, so treat it as the published figure rather than a quote. Every truck shown is a Ford studio render in Agate Black Metallic, with optional equipment and extra-cost color shown. Ford adjusts pricing during the model year.

See which F-150s are in Huntley today

Trims, cabs, boxes, engines and colors change week to week, and an F-150 is the one vehicle where the configuration matters more than the trim badge. The listing shows what is here right now, each with its own price.

Safety ratings

Five stars from the government, and two Poor ratings from the insurers

These two things are both true and most pages only print the first one. The federal rating is excellent across all seven configurations NHTSA has rated. The insurance industry’s institute rates the same truck Poor in two of its tests and gives the 2026 F-150 no award at all. You should see both before you decide.

  • NHTSA: 5 stars overall

Five stars overall on all seven configurations NHTSA has rated — Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew, each in rear-wheel and four-wheel drive, plus the SuperCrew hybrid. Five stars for frontal crash, five for side, five for the side pole test and four for rollover.

  • IIHS: no award for 2026

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety lists no Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ for the 2026 F-150. Any page telling you this truck is an award winner is telling you something that is not in the record.

  • Two IIHS ratings of Poor

Moderate overlap front, updated test: Poor. Vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention: Poor. The updated moderate overlap test measures rear-seat occupant protection, so it matters most if people ride in the back.

  • Where IIHS rates it Good

Small overlap front: Good. Side, updated test: Good. Headlights are Good or Acceptable depending on trim. LATCH ease of use is Marginal. IIHS notes these derive from 2021 testing and apply to 2021 through 2026 trucks built after March 2021.

NHTSA ratings retrieved from the agency’s own public ratings data on 1 September 2026. IIHS ratings as published by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety on the same date. Ratings apply to the tested configuration and are not a prediction of any individual crash outcome. Huntley Ford claims no safety award for this vehicle.

Powertrain, capability, cab, box and warranty figures are Ford’s own, from the 2026 F-150 Tech Specs sheet and the 2026 F-150 Order Guide. Fuel-economy figures are EPA estimates from fueleconomy.gov, and every one of them matches the “F.E. label adjusted” table Ford prints in its own Order Guide. Your mileage will vary with how you drive, what you are pulling, the weather and the condition of the truck. Specification varies by trim, wheelbase and options — we will confirm the numbers on any individual vehicle before you commit to it.

Driving it around here

What an F-150 is actually for in McHenry and Kane County

Most F-150s sold from this lot will spend their lives doing three things: carrying tools and material during the week, pulling something on a weekend, and getting through a northern Illinois winter without any drama. None of those require the top half of the range. If you tow, the number to care about is on the door jamb of the specific truck, not on this page. A 3.5L EcoBoost XLT with the Max Tow/Haul Package will out-tow a Platinum, a Tremor and a Raptor, and it will cost less than any of them. Bring the weight of what you are pulling — actual weight, loaded, not the brochure figure for the trailer — and we will work backwards from it to a configuration. If you mostly commute and occasionally haul, look hard at the PowerBoost hybrid. It is the most economical F-150 in city driving by a wide margin, and Pro Power Onboard means the truck runs a job site or a tailgate without a separate generator. It costs you about 1,900 lb of towing against the 3.5L EcoBoost, which most people never use.

The honest part

Four things about the 2026 F-150 that are easier not to mention

  • The rear-seat crash rating is Poor

IIHS rates the F-150 Poor in the updated moderate overlap front test, which was redesigned specifically to measure how well a rear-seat passenger is protected. If you regularly carry people in the back seat of a SuperCrew, that is a real finding and you should weigh it.

  • Front crash prevention also rates Poor

IIHS rates the truck Poor for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention. The automatic emergency braking is there; the institute’s testing says it does not perform well. NHTSA’s five-star rating measures something different — how the truck protects you in a crash, not how well it avoids one.

  • The middle of the range does not exist

If your budget is $50,000, Ford does not build an F-150 for you. You buy a heavily optioned XLT or you find another $10,000. We would rather tell you that now than walk you round the lot pretending a Lariat can be discounted into range.

  • Add $2,795 before you compare anything

Ford’s destination and delivery charge for the 2026 F-150 is $2,795, and it is not in any price on this page or on Ford’s. It is not optional and it is not negotiable — every F-150 in the country carries it. So the real floor is $42,380, not $39,585, and that is before taxes, title, license and the documentary fee. Ask us and we will show you the actual invoice line.

Ford’s published starting prices run from $39,585 for the XL to $79,005 for the Raptor: STX $41,855, XLT $44,695, Lariat $59,560, Tremor $64,915, King Ranch $65,825, Platinum $68,800. All exclude Ford’s $2,795 destination and delivery charge, plus taxes, title, license and the documentary fee — so an XL is really $42,380 before tax. The gap worth knowing about is between the XLT and the Lariat — $14,865, with nothing sold in between.

How much can a 2026 Ford F-150 tow?

Up to 13,500 lb, and only in one specific configuration: the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in a 4×4 SuperCrew with the Max Tow/Haul Package and the Max Tow Axle. By engine, four-wheel drive: 2.7L EcoBoost 8,200 lb, PowerBoost hybrid 11,600 lb, 5.0L V8 12,800 lb, 3.5L EcoBoost 13,500 lb, Raptor 8,200 lb. Two-wheel-drive figures differ — the PowerBoost, for instance, tows 12,400 lb in 4×2. The door-jamb label on the individual truck is what actually governs.

What is the difference between the F-150 XLT and the Lariat?

$14,865, and less capability than that suggests. For 2026 the XLT gets the 3.5L EcoBoost as standard on the 157-inch wheelbase, Zone Lighting as standard and BlueCruise available on the 302A and 303A groups. That means the step to a Lariat buys leather, interior materials, sound insulation and equipment — not a better engine and not the headline tow rating. If the budget is tight, a well-specified XLT is the better value and we will say so.

Which 2026 F-150 engine should I get?

For towing and hauling, the 3.5L EcoBoost — 400 hp, 500 lb-ft, and it carries both the 13,500 lb tow maximum and the 2,440 lb payload maximum. For mostly commuting with occasional work, the PowerBoost hybrid — 22 city in four-wheel drive, 570 lb-ft of torque and Pro Power Onboard built in. The 5.0L V8 makes the same horsepower as the 3.5L EcoBoost with less torque and worse economy; people buy it because they want a V8, which is a fine reason but not a technical one. The 2.7L is the value engine and stops at the XLT.

Is the PowerBoost hybrid F-150 worth it?

It depends entirely on what you do with the truck. It is the most economical F-150 you can buy — 22 city, 24 highway in 4×4 against 17 and 23 for the 3.5L EcoBoost — it makes the most torque in the lineup outside the Raptor R at 570 lb-ft, and Pro Power Onboard turns the bed into a generator, which is 2.4 kW standard on King Ranch and Platinum and 7.2 kW available. What you give up is roughly 1,900 lb of towing against the 3.5L EcoBoost. If you tow near the limit, take the EcoBoost. If you do not, the hybrid is the better daily truck.

What MPG does the 2026 Ford F-150 get?

EPA estimates run from 24 combined for the two-wheel-drive PowerBoost hybrid down to 12 for the Raptor R. The common ones: 2.7L EcoBoost 21 combined in 4×2 and 20 in 4×4; 3.5L EcoBoost 20 and 19; 5.0L V8 19; PowerBoost hybrid 24 and 23. A Tremor is 18 with the EcoBoost and 17 with the V8. These match the fuel-economy table Ford prints in its own 2026 Order Guide.

How safe is the 2026 Ford F-150?

It depends which body you ask. NHTSA gives it five stars overall on all seven configurations it has rated — Regular Cab, SuperCab and SuperCrew in both drivelines, plus the SuperCrew hybrid — with five stars for frontal impact, side impact and the side pole test, and four for rollover. IIHS gives the 2026 F-150 no award, and rates it Poor in two tests — the updated moderate overlap front test, which measures rear-seat occupant protection, and vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention. It rates Good for small overlap front and for the updated side test. Both sets of ratings are real and they measure different things.

What is new on the 2026 Ford F-150?

New King Ranch 600A and Platinum 700A equipment groups, which bring the King Ranch in at $65,825 — Ford’s line is that it now starts under $70,000. The 3.5L EcoBoost becomes standard on the 157-inch XL and XLT, the rear-drive Lariat and the Tremor. The PowerBoost hybrid becomes available on the STX. Rear-wheel drive arrives on the Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum with the 5.5-foot box. BlueCruise, standard from the Lariat up, can now be bought outright rather than subscribed to and can be ordered on an XLT. Zone Lighting is standard from the STX up, and there are three new colors: Argon Blue, Avalanche and Ruby Red Metallic.

Does the 2026 Ford F-150 still come with a V8?

Yes, in two forms. The 5.0L V8 makes 400 hp and 410 lb-ft and is standard on the short-wheelbase XL and optional on the XLT, Lariat and Tremor — the Tremor at $64,915 is the most expensive F-150 you can order with it. It is not offered on the King Ranch, Platinum or Raptor. Separately, the 5.2L supercharged V8 makes 720 hp in the Raptor R, which Ford treats as an engine option on the Raptor rather than a listed trim and does not price publicly.

Which F-150 trims have BlueCruise?

It is standard equipment on the Lariat, Tremor, King Ranch and Platinum — the Lariat and Tremor with a 90-day trial, the King Ranch and Platinum with a year plus 90 days. On the XLT it can be ordered with the 302A or 303A equipment group. It is not offered on the XL, the STX or — and this surprises people — the Raptor, which Ford’s Order Guide states explicitly. The change for 2026 is that Ford now sells it as a one-time purchase rather than only as a subscription. If your commute includes a stretch of I-90, it is worth trying on a test drive rather than judging from a spec sheet.

What is the difference between a SuperCab and a SuperCrew F-150?

A SuperCrew has four full-size, front-hinged doors and a proper rear seat; a SuperCab has smaller rear-hinged half doors and a tighter rear bench. On the 2026 range the SuperCab is offered on the XL, STX and XLT only, always with the 6.5-foot box. Every trim is available as a SuperCrew. The XL is also the only trim you can still buy as a Regular Cab, and the only one offered with an 8-foot box.

How much can a 2026 F-150 carry in the bed?

Maximum payload is 2,440 lb, with the 3.5L EcoBoost in two-wheel drive. It falls with four-wheel drive and with the other engines: 2,175 lb for the 3.5L EcoBoost 4×4, 2,235 and 2,080 for the 5.0L V8, 2,045 and 1,740 for the PowerBoost hybrid, 1,775 and 1,715 for the 2.7L. Payload varies with accessories and configuration, so the figure that governs your truck is on the door-jamb label — bring it to us and we will read it with you.
